Last year, we introduced a Personal Strategic Planning document and were so honored as many of you requested the document and scheduled time to discuss how you could implement it to create your vision for 2025. As we move toward 2026, the question of who you are becoming, and how intentionally you shape that journey, has never been more important. The pace of change in work, well-being, relationships, and personal development continues to accelerate. The experiences of the past years, whether they challenged you, stretched you, or opened new doors, now offer valuable insight into the opportunities ahead. This season invites thoughtful reflection. It’s a moment to pause, recalibrate, and define the direction you want to pursue in 2026 with clarity and purpose.

Creating a personal strategic plan is one of the most powerful ways to shape your future with intention. Based on our conversations with you this past year, we have created a newly expanded 2026 edition of the Personal Strategic Plan Worksheet, incorporating the Perpetual Development Influence Framework:  Influence = Credibility + Connection + Consistency, to help you understand not only where you want to go, but who you must become to get there.

Why Reflect Now?

Why Reflect Now

As the year comes to a close, demands and deadlines often compete with the desire for rest. Yet carving out even a small amount of reflective space can create meaningful clarity. This pause helps you reconnect with what matters most and illuminate what you want for the year ahead.

A new year offers a clean slate, a chance to align your choices, energy, and behaviors with your deepest values. Research consistently shows that individuals who act in alignment with their values experience higher levels of fulfillment and sustained success. Reflective planning helps you understand your motivations, identify what has shifted, and create a grounded strategy for the coming year.

What Is a Personal Strategic Plan

A personal strategic plan is your blueprint for growth, influence, and direction. It clarifies:

  • Your core values

  • Your aspirations and goals

  • The habits, systems, and supports that will make your progress sustainable

  • How you want to influence your life, work, and relationships

The 2026 worksheet deepens this process with structured steps such as identifying your core values, defining your passions, assessing your current state, auditing your energy and influence, and envisioning future milestones. Each step helps ensure your goals are anchored in credibility, connection, and consistency, the pillars of the Influence Framework featured in this edition.

For example, if developing your leadership credibility is a priority, your plan may include attending targeted workshops, seeking mentorship, strengthening communication habits, or integrating an executive coach into your development strategy.

By defining your plan, you move from hopeful intention to purposeful action.

Using the Perpetual Development Influence Framework

The updated 2026 Personal Strategic Plan Worksheet provides guided prompts, reflection questions, and structured steps to support your planning process.

Key areas include:

Values & Principles

Clarify the values that shape your decisions and determine what integrity looks like for you in 2026. For example, if “connection” or “well-being” rises to the top of your list, you might set goals for strengthening relationships or building healthier boundaries.

Current Position & Growth Opportunities

Assess your strengths, identify what feels misaligned, and explore the habits that help or hinder your progress.

Energy + Influence Audit

Based on the Energy Quadrant (high/low energy; high/low impact), identify which activities expand you, and which drain you, and determine where to concentrate your effort for maximum impact.

2026 Goals and Beyond

Define what success looks like:

  • in 6 months

  • in 12 months

  • in 3 years

Research indicates that people who articulate specific goals are significantly more likely to achieve them. Clarity increases momentum.

Action Steps

Translate insight into action. Define immediate steps (next 30–90 days) and outline the systems, support, and accountability structures you’ll need to maintain consistency.

Use the worksheet as a guide, move through it at your own pace and revisit it as your perspective evolves.

Steps to Create Your Personal Strategic Plan

As you prepare for 2026, look back at the events that shaped you, both the ones that stretched you and the ones that expanded you. Challenges often reveal new strengths; opportunities highlight what brings energy, joy, or meaning.

Consider where you grew, what changed, which patterns repeated, and what new possibilities emerged. Blending both the lessons and the wins of the past year will help you build a strategic plan that is grounded, realistic, and energizing.

  1. Reflect on the past two years

Review your experiences from the past couple of years. What challenges did you face? What opportunities arose? What lessons did you learn? Write down key insights.

  2. Identify your core values

List the principles that guide your decisions. These might include honesty, growth, kindness, or balance. Your values will serve as the foundation for your plan.

  3. Set clear aspirations and goals

Define what you want to achieve in 2026. Make your goals specific, measurable, and meaningful. For example, instead of “get healthier,” aim for “exercise three times a week” or “cook five healthy meals weekly.”

  4. Plan habits and systems

Determine the daily or weekly habits that will support your goals. Consider what systems or tools you need, such as a calendar, accountability partner, or tracking app.

  5. Apply the Influence Framework

Think about how you will build credibility, deepen connections, and maintain consistency in your efforts.

  6. Review and adjust regularly

Your plan should be a living document. Set monthly or quarterly check-ins to assess progress and make changes as needed.

Your Plan is Built Through Thoughtful Consideration

Beginning your personal strategic plan doesn’t require completing it all at once. Start with the section that resonates most. Explore the questions. Give yourself space to think. Visualize who you want to be at the end of 2026, and what consistency, connection, and credibility will look like in your daily life.

This process is an act of self-leadership. Every reflection and every small step builds a clearer, stronger foundation for the year ahead.

Stepping Into 2026 With Purpose

Now is the moment to define the path you want to walk. Reflect on your lessons, honor your growth, and give yourself permission to imagine what’s possible in the coming year.
